'Dharm Adhikari' is a 1986 Hindi-language action film, produced by U.V. Suryanarayana Raju under the Gopi Krishna Movies banner, presented by Krishnam Raju and directed by K. Raghavendra Rao. The film stars Dilip Kumar, Jeetendra, Sridevi in the pivotal roles and music composed by Bappi Lahiri. The film is a remake of the Telugu movie 'Bobbili Brahmanna' (1984), starring Krishnam Raju, Sharada, Jayasudha , both movies are made by the same banner and director. Two roles of Dilip Kumar and Jeetendra are played by Krishnam Raju in Telugu.

Plot



The film begins in a village Nandgaon which is ruled by Dharmraj rectitude & rebel whom the public deifies. Hither, the Police are detested to enter the premises. Dharmraj gives unbiased judgments, by inquest the issues at a square called 'Dharma Peetham' where a sword is pierced in the trunk of a tree that has historical significance. During the pre-independence, a revolutionist Dharmraj forefather of the present slew several Britishers with the same sword, and he was hanged to that tree. So, as an honor for his valor and sacrifice, people placed the sword in its trunk. Whenever piety has transcended the limits Dharmraj unsheathes the sword and eliminates the treacherous.

Besides, Chowdary a top-tier conducts several atrocities in the villages associating a sly priest Sastry and conspires to undertake the position over 'Dharma Peetham'. Dharmraj leads a happy family life with his ideal wife Savitri, wise daughter Aarti, and a devoted brother Prakash. Prakash a gallant & well-educated struggle hard for the welfare of the public encounters the venomous Chowdary and falls for a beau Priya. Once, Chotu son of Chowdary tries to molest Priya's elder sister Sudha when Prakash protects her but, in that scrimmage, she loses her voice. Right now, at the trial, Chotu is declared guilty. Dharmraj passes his ordinance that Chotu must wedlock Sudha. At the same time, Chotu discovers that Dharmraj is frequent to the house of woman Susheela and also a guardian to her children Arun & Seeta. Exploiting it, Chowdary accuses Dharmraj, questions him and he spins back. Years ago, a man named Ramdas has to pay a penalty for Dharmrajs decision as an innocent and committed suicide. Hence, as a repentance Dharmraj has taken care of his family.

Currently, Chowdary is compelled to knit Chotu with Sudha but resists consummating. Meanwhile, Arun & Aarti falls in love and Dharmraj approves of their wedding. In the next step, Chowdary again schemes with a falsified accident as made by Aarti in which a villager Narayan becomes blind. Then, at the tribunal, Dharmraj decides that Aarti should marry Narayan, or else they will be ostracized. Prakash denies and confronts his brother when Dharmraj is about to prepare for a battle. However, Savitri hinders it and requests Prakash to quit the village with Arun & Aarti which they do so. Later, he couples up with them and Aarti gets pregnant. Eventually, Sudha is also carrying which makes Chotu reform. Knowing it, wicked Chowdary ploys to slaughter her when fortuitously, she retrieves her voice. Moreover, Dharmraj discards Savitri too as she visits for her daughters baby shower. Here, Prakash exposes the cruelties of Chowdary at 'Dharma Perham' and as a startle, Narayan pretended as blind. Being cognizant of facts, Dharmraj draws out the sword and knocks Chowdary before he crosses his boundaries. Finally, the movie ends with Dharmraj surrendering to the Police by entrusting his authority to Prakash.

Production



Krishnam Raju considered Vinod Khanna and Dharmendra initially for the lead roles, but later Dilip Kumar and Jeetendra were finalised.

In 'Bobbili Brahmanna', the two lead roles are played by Krishnam Raju (as Double Role), while in 'Dharm Adhikari', the two roles are played by Dilip Kumar and Jeetendra.
